Why Muslims are once again planting trees in Lithuania?

On April 12th, the "National Forest Planting Day" took place with the aim of restoring and preserving the country’s forests. Traditionally, during this event, individuals, groups, and organizations are encouraged to plant trees as a way to contribute to nature’s renewal. the past two years the volunteers from an Islamic Center were also among the active participants, showing solidarity through their contribution and joining this important initiative.
By planting forests, Muslims emphasize the importance of ecology and nature conservation, which reflects Islamic values and the religion’s attitude toward the environment. Islam encourages care for the Earth and highlights that the preservation of nature is the responsibility of every individual. Forest restoration not only improves environmental conditions but also helps combat climate change and supports the preservation of biodiversity.
The "National Forest Planting Day" is a great platform for communities to unite and work together towards building a sustainable future. The Islamic Center's participation in this initiative demonstrates that environmental protection and the restoration of natural resources are universal values that bring together diverse cultures, religions, and beliefs.

Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, has said: "Never does a Muslim plants a tree except that he has the reward of charity for him, for what is eaten out of that is charity; what is stolen out of that, what the beasts eat out of that, what the birds eat out of that is charity for him. None incurs a loss to it but it becomes a charity on his part." [Sachīch Muslim 1552a]
