Vilnius Jerusalem Community and Islamo centras at the Opening of “Jausmų stotelė”
The Vilnius Jerusalem Community, together with Islamo centras, took part in the presentation and community gathering held alongside the launch of the “Jausmų stotelė” (“Feelings Station”) project near the Verkiai Eldership. This initiative, implemented through the “Participate! Vilnius” program, aims to create a space where residents can meet, cooperate, and strengthen community ties.
Islamo centras contributed to the event by serving participants traditional plov and tea. Representatives of Islamo centras also shared reflections on the rights of neighbors in Islam. It was emphasized that neighborly relations hold a special place in the Islamic tradition: people are encouraged to respect their neighbors, care for their well-being, assist them in times of difficulty, and avoid any behavior that could cause them harm. These values are universal and can be appreciated by everyone.
During the event, representatives of the Verkiai Eldership also presented projects and ideas proposed by residents and implemented between 2022 and 2026. They introduced the opportunities offered by participatory budgeting and explained how residents can submit their own ideas for future community projects. The projects were displayed on easels, allowing attendees to learn about their objectives and outcomes.
Islamo centras is grateful to the Verkiai Eldership for the opportunity to participate in such an event. It was an excellent occasion to build closer relationships with neighbors, promote mutual understanding, and contribute to the development of an open and friendly community. Gatherings like these remind us that through cooperation and dialogue, we can create a more welcoming environment for all residents.
