Islamo centras joined BŪTENT! festival in Vilnius

At this year’s BŪTENT! Festival, Islamo centras presented the rich and diverse culture of Islam, aiming to introduce visitors to the heritage and contemporary relevance of this religion. Special attention was given to Islamic arts – visitors had the opportunity to see and try calligraphy, explore examples of architecture, and learn how Islamic architectural forms and ideas influenced the development of the Gothic style in Europe. This opened the possibility to see that cultural exchange has always been an inseparable part of human history.
In addition, the history of Islam in Lithuania was presented, reminding that Muslim communities have lived in this country for several centuries, and their contribution to Lithuania’s cultural heritage is significant and worthy of broader recognition. Another important highlight was the inventions and scientific achievements that Islamic civilization has given to the world: from medicine and mathematics to optics and cartography. Through all this, a message was conveyed that Islam is a religion that builds and contributes to the well-being of humanity as a whole.
At the event, visitors could also receive a copy of the Qur’an, allowing those interested to become acquainted with the main source of Islam. At the same time, the activities of Islamo centras were introduced, helping people better understand what our organization does today, what projects it carries out, and how it contributes to cultural dialogue. A special interest was raised by the topic of neighbor’s rights in Islam, which revealed the religion’s emphasis on community, respect, and responsibility for those around us.
The most curious visitors had the chance to see their names written in Arabic script – a symbolic way of touching another culture. During the festival, lively discussions on Islam and history took place, encouraging openness, dialogue, and mutual understanding. We are sincerely grateful to the organizers for the warm welcome and the opportunity to share the message of our center!
