On October 17, the Lrytas initiative “Colorful Vilnius” held its annual awards ceremony to honour individuals and communities who help build a more open, united, and multicultural Vilnius.

The initiative aims to inspire public dialogue about what shapes a modern city – an open, diverse, and democratic Vilnius. It reminds us that diversity is not a threat but rather a source of strength and growth, allowing everyone to live together in harmony.

We are proud to share that Islamic Centre Deputy Chief and Chair of the Lithuanian Kyrgyz Community, Belek Aidarov, was recognised in the “Voice of the Year” nomination. This award celebrates those whose words and actions inspire others, promote understanding between nations and faiths, and strengthen community bonds.

Belek Aidarov obtained a Master’s degree in Political Science at Vilnius University in 2010. Since 2020, he has been leading the Lithuanian Kyrgyz Community and actively participating in the Lithuanian Muslim community’s initiatives. He also organises community camps for children and conducts lessons on Islam.

The award ceremony took place during the Lrytas conference “Security Code”, attended by leaders, community representatives, and citizens dedicated to fostering an open and inclusive society.

The Islamic Centre warmly congratulates Belek Aidarov on this well-deserved recognition and wishes him continued success in spreading the values of peace, respect, and unity.
May this honour serve as an inspiration to us all to strengthen mutual understanding and harmony within our society.
