Iftars at Islamo Centras – more than just filling the stomach

3/28/2025

During the month of Ramadan, Islamo Centras regularly hosted iftars – evening gatherings for breaking the fast, bringing the Muslim community together for prayer and a shared meal. Each day at sunset, the fast was broken with dates and water, following the tradition of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, after which the community performed the evening prayer. After the prayer, all participants were invited to a communal table to enjoy a delicious serving of plov, prepared and served by the volunteers of the Islamic Center.

These gatherings were not only an opportunity to strengthen communal bonds but also a deeply spiritual experience. Ramadan is a time when believers seek a closer connection with God, cultivate patience, gratitude, and devotion. The communal iftar embodied the Islamic teachings of hospitality, generosity, and unity. It was a moment not only to break the fast together but also to share joy, support one another, and reinforce the sense of brotherhood and sisterhood.

Islamo Centras became a place where people could feel like one big family—both regular community members and newcomers, including non-Muslim guests who sought companionship during Ramadan. These evenings provided nourishment not only for the body but also for the soul, reminding everyone of the core values of Ramadan: compassion, patience, and God’s grace.
