Ethnosports at Islamo centras

On November 30, a Lithuanian ethnosport event took place at the Islamic Centre, bringing together community members and guests to познаком themselves with ancient Lithuanian sports and game traditions. The event was intended not only for active leisure but also for cultural education, thereby encouraging dialogue between different traditions and communities.

During the event, participants had the opportunity to try ethnogames in virtual reality, which, with the help of modern technology, allowed them to experience traditional games in a new and engaging format. There were also stick-pulling competitions requiring strength and endurance, pushing an opponent out of a circle, which develops balance and strategic thinking, as well as traditional wrestling, revealing ancient Lithuanian grappling traditions.

Participants actively engaged in all activities and thus not only learned about traditional Lithuanian sports but also experienced them “first-hand.” We would like to express special thanks to the President of the Lithuanian Ethnosport Committee, Stanislavas Bajurinas, who not only professionally presented the history and significance of ethnosport but also practically introduced members of our centre’s community to various disciplines.
