Children’s Summer Camp: Between Quran Reading, Sauna, and Water Battles!

During July 26–31, Islamo centras children’s summer camp offered a truly special week filled not only with spiritual growth, but also joyful moments, physical activities, and an atmosphere of brotherhood and sisterhood. Each day began with morning exercises and breakfast, followed by Islamic lessons. These lessons covered Islamic etiquette, core principles of faith, Quran studies, and basic Arabic.

After the lessons, campers took part in various engaging activities. There were calligraphy and poetry classes. Boys participated in Aikido and other martial arts sessions, while girls had self-defense classes aimed at boosting their confidence and teaching them how to protect themselves in dangerous situations. The girls also had the opportunity to express their creativity in craft workshops, where they embroidered, painted, and made bead bracelets.

Campers also had the chance to practice archery, and the most active days were crowned with exciting water battles. The children went on a nature hike as well, which helped strengthen their bonds, endurance, and respect for the environment.

The daily routine was enriched with swimming in the lake, and on cooler days, the warmth of the sauna was a welcome addition. One day, when canoeing had to be cancelled due to bad weather, the sauna turned out to be a real saviour.

One of the most fun activities in the camp was the treasure hunt — it was so popular, it had to be organized twice! Following Islamic clues and using the Quran for guidance, campers searched for hidden treasure. This activity encouraged creativity, logical thinking, and the practical application of knowledge.

On the last day of camp, a quiz was held to test the knowledge gained throughout the week. Afterwards, there was a special awards ceremony – every participant was recognised for successfully completing the camp's educational program.

Camps like this are of special importance to the Muslim community. They help shape Islamic identity, provide a solid moral foundation, promote spiritual growth, and nurture a love for the religion. In such an environment, children feel understood, grow alongside like-minded peers, form lasting friendships, and develop essential social skills.
